Articles Stem Cell Research Consider Topic And Ethics

Stem cell research first came to light in the early 1960s when scientists conducted an experiment on laboratory rats. Now, more than 45 years later, the topic of stem cell research is considered to be one of the most promising advancements in the medical arena that has come along in decades.

One area where stem cell research has been in the forefront has been that related to spinal cord injuries. In a person with a spinal cord injury, researches believe that it might to possible to repair the injury by injecting the site with a certain type of stem cell. The stem cell would then work with the other cells in the area to rebuilt necessary connections in the spine. Eventually, this would lead to the complete healing of the injury and the renewed ability of the person to lead a normal life.

This stem cell research opinion is based on experiments that were conducted using rats in a laboratory. The results from the tests were truly amazing and the previously paralyzed rats were eventually able to move their legs again.

While the use of rats may cause people concern, they have been used for decades in laboratories around the world as the medical profession has searched for many ways to help cure or heal people from diseases or injuries.

One of the most promising areas in stem cell research is in the use of embryonic stem cells. These stem cells are incredibly distinctive since they can develop into any kind of cell in the human body. And, it was the embryonic stem cells that helped create you when you were first conceived. These cells are extremely flexible when it comes to helping find cures but the stem cell research area needs to overcome many obstacles.

Stem cell research will continue for many years to come by scientists in laboratories around the world. They are dedicated to finding cures for diseases, and for helping people overcome serious injuries. Money is a major deterrent in most research efforts going on today and because of the controversy in the area of stem cell research, it is going to take a long time before we have all of the answers.

Scientists and medical professionals will continue their search for ways to enhance stem cell research and to come up with cures. It will take time, but finding ways to help people overcome serious illness or to survive an accident will be the driving force behind their efforts.

The media, government officials, and the average citizen all have something to gain if stem cell research comes up with the cures that they claim are there. All scientists have to do is find the cures and to make available to everyone.
